Wedding Planning Tips and Ideas
You have met your perfect life partner. The big question has been asked and answered in the affirmative. The date has been set. Now what?
For most brides and grooms the wedding involves more than just planning the ceremony and booking a hall for the reception. Whether you opt for a no-holds-barred extravaganza, or a low-key intimate affair, planning your wedding involves making many decisions for an entire list of items—flowers, invitations, food, wedding attire, churches, banquet halls, etc. You get the idea! No matter the type of wedding you prefer, the occasion will require a considerable amount of preparation, as well as managing ideas and processing lots of information.
Once you’ve decided on the type of wedding you’d like, you must decide how much you want to spend on your wedding. Before you commit to anything you must know your wedding budget. Knowing what you have to spend will help in making your choices when you’re presented with many options down the road. Now, it’s time to plan the wedding of your dreams!
The best way to start your planning is by creating a list. Begin by making a list of the things you need for your wedding. Where are you going to be married? Do you want to write your own vows? What are the options for where to hold your reception? Do you want a sit-down dinner, or something less formal? What type of entertainment do you prefer? What are your colors? What is everyone in the wedding party going to wear? What type of flowers do you prefer? What about transportation? Who will photograph your special day? What about wedding favors for your guests? What about gifts for your wedding attendants? What about out of town guests? Where will they stay? This is just an example of things you might put on your list. Every bride and groom will have a different list depending upon the type of wedding they want.
After you have your list completed, it’s time to create a month-to-month checklist. You may want to transfer this list to a calendar to help you stay on track. Be sure to add any meetings pertaining to your wedding on the calendar so you don’t forget.
You may also want to think about employing a wedding consultant or planner. They do exactly what their job title implies: provide professional guidance to walk you through the process of planning your wedding. They discuss your wants and needs and create a wedding that echoes your style, personality, and taste and, most importantly, they stay in your preferred budget. Some planners offer complete planning services, while others provide a-la-carte services. Which you choose depends on your needs.
Please remember, though, there is no worrying allowed on the day of your wedding! The planning is done, everything is ready. Your wedding is solely about the two of you bonding in a lifetime partnership. So, enjoy the moments of the ceremony and celebrate your love with family and friends on your special day—your wedding day.
