Choosing Bridal Shower Party Games

Choosing Bridal Shower Party Games Filed under: Bridal Shower — site admin @ 11:47 am

A wise hostess recognizes the inherent value of bridal shower party games. Such games can serve as icebreakers, thus helping the party guests to become better acquainted. One icebreaker can help the hostess to get a head-start on the gathering of rice, rice that might later be thrown at the future bride and groom.

One way to help guests “break the ice” calls for the use of a large glass jar. The hostess needs to fill the jar with a known number of rice grains. As the guests arrive, then they should be shown that jar of rice, and they should be asked to guess the number of grains of rice in the jar. Usually, as the guests engage in the examination of the jar, they will talk to each other, and they will thus become better acquainted.

Once one or more bridal shower party games have helped the guests to become better acquainted then the hostess can introduce some different games. She might, for example, want to have the guests play games that require some sort of team effort. She might ask each “team” to build a tower using a deck of cards. This is an excellent way for friends and family to learn together how to undertake a joint project.

Bridal games must take into consideration the sophistication of the guests. For older guests, the hostess might want to hang a large sheet, and then shine a light on that sheet. The hostess could have one group of guests stand in front of the sheet, while a second group stands in the shadow of the sheet.

As opposed to the games for the bridal shower mentioned above, the sheet game has no purpose other than pure fun. The group in the shadow of the sheet will watch carefully as the shadows of the other team pass in front of the sheet. That group must then guess which team member goes with each shadow.

The hostess could promise her guests that some of her bridal shower party games would offer a chance for them to be truly creative. The sheet game is one example of such a game. A pair of team members could really confuse the opposing team by displaying the arm of one member and the leg of a second member.

If a hostess felt that she wanted to avoid any games that might be called risqué, then she would probably not want to use the sheet game. That is why it has been described as a “sophisticated” game. It is definitely a game that best-suits a more adult group of party attendees.

As a hostess plans her party games, she ought to inquire about the exact age of the guests. In that way she could better judge which games would be most appropriate. In that way the hostess could hope to assemble the party supplies that would enable her to play the most appropriate games for the friends and family of the bridal party.
