Diamond is the hardest and the toughest matter on earth and is what composes the most expensive and elegant jewelry these days. However according to statistics, only 25 percent of the diamonds mined is used as jewelry because some of the mined stones have fault in color. Those, which do not pass the standards of a perfect diamond, are used for industrial purposes.
Even if diamonds are the hardest substance, they still need proper care and handling to remain safe and of course to ensure that they will always look at their best- brilliant, elegant and clear. If you have a diamond ring, you should know how to take good care of it properly. Here are some of the pointers on how to maintain your beautiful jewelry and rings.
First, we cannot deny the fact that diamond is so tough and it can cut into almost anything. If you place it together with your other jewelry, there is a possibility that it can damage your other jewelries by leaving scratches. It is best if you separate your womens or mens diamond ring from your other jewelry and of course you should also separate your stones from contact with other gems as well. You should have your own jewelry compartment for your precious gems.
Do not wear your diamond if you are doing a rough work or manual work. You should remove your ring before doing such kind of activities. Although the diamond is the hardest and the toughest substance, you should also consider the fact that there is also a setting place for the stone, which you have to take care of. Even if the setting site is durable it could also get dislocated and loosen up at times and even worse, get lost. Isn’t it awful to lose the most precious stone just because you did not take care of it properly?
Diamond engagement rings can also be damaged by harsh cleaning products that you use in your household. It could also be damaged or get lost through gardening. Even if you will use hand gloves, it is better that you remove your diamond ring first and place it in a safe place before doing any kind of household chores. Put it on its own jewelry compartment and place it in the safest place you could possibly think of.
You can maintain your diamond ring at its best if you clean it properly. Clean it by using a special jewelry cleanser or by using a mild household detergent. Use an old toothbrush to clean the corners and crannies of the setting.
Lastly, pay a visit to the jewelry shop to have your diamond maintained professionally. You can do it once or twice a year. There they will check if there is any loose setting and fix it to ensure that it always looks its best.
