Default Need reception decor help!!

My favorite color is dark pink so this is a given for the reception but what goes with this shade of pink that doesn't look like a candy store? Everything I pair the color up with looks way too childish.

My colors are fuschia and lime green so I think I'm having a similar issue where I don't want everything to look like a bright colorful circus act I chose these colors, mainly because of the flowers I want to use -cymbidium orchids. Now that I'm picking out the rest of my decor, I'm having a hard time deciding between adding dark, damask accents, or light and airy pearlized accents. I found these great tealight lanterns that I want to string up around the outdoor reception area but I'm not sure whether to get them in white or black. I also found some great placecard holders on this wedding favors website, I could do pearlized troca strawberry seashells with a slit at the top, or I could do these really cute black and white damask placecard coasters.

or

Anyway, I have lots of time to decide but I thought I'd see if anyone had any suggestions!

Hmm I see your dilemma. Black is always an color that goes with pink that is not childish lol. It might not be a bad idea to pick something that blends in with the hall, decorations, colors of the suits/bridesmaids dresses etc. It is a tough color to compliment, but there are many ways to go about it.

Most custom wedding favor sites will work with you and help you pick what colors would compliment your shade of pink. A lot of them have graphic designers who tackle these tough questions on a daily basis. Just ask the experts if you can't decide, is what I always say

May I suggest chocolate brown with all shades of pink. It will create a beautiful color combination. The brown is elegant and will 'ground' your decor. For example, chocolate brown table runners or overlays with pink floral centerpieces for the reception is really lovely. I have created this look for several of my brides in the last few seasons.... and the grooms don't feel like they are drowing in a sea of pink. lol.

For mine I had hot pink with black and a touch of silver.

Looked good when all was put together. Here is a pic below of the tables at the reception.

Since pink is a very flashy and very light color, I suggest you go for the dull, and dark one to match with it.... I always like the combination of pink and brown. Pink goes with black too but it's not nice to have something black on your wedding isn't it?

We second the suggestion of flowerlady, chocolate brown is the way to go.
