What is divorce? Divorce is a legal separation between two married people while they are still alive. It is legal in other countries while in some countries, this law is not exercised. The more this law is practiced, the more it becomes acceptable to the eyes of the society therefore losing the sanctity of marriage. Divorce raises a lot of issues regarding the separation of properties as well as child custody and support, if the couple has children.
In the western world, the Divorce rate is a shocking 50% which means almost 50% of married couples don’t end up happily married after all. How can this be prevented? Marriage counseling is the answer.

Marriage counseling is very important if couples still want to save their relationship for the sake of their children.
What is marriage counseling? Marriage counseling is a form of conflict resolution for both the parties. Psychotherapists are usually the one who handles this kind of counseling. To be able to have successful marriage counseling, couples must attend regularly and usually in different time of the day.

Before you decide to get a wedding counselor, there are certain things that you have to consider first. First, you have to make sure that there is enough time for you to spend in the counseling sessions. Are you so busy with work that you have no time for it after all? You can also inquire regarding the payments per session or is the session for free. Determining the number of sessions per week is also important.

Marriage counselors help a lot in saving the marriage, however we should also consider our true friends, relatives and most specially our parents. They are the ones who know us from head to foot. For sure you will get a good advice from them.

Talk to your spouse first. Do you still want to push through with the counseling or you can still fix the problem as a couple without the help of other people? If you feel that there is nothing is improving with your conversation, then take your problem to marriage counselors.
Just always remember that the people who are affected more than anyone else are the children. If you are considering in getting the divorce, think first. Think about the welfare of your children. It is very important for the children to live and grow up with their parents both on their sides. However, the children these days are smart enough to understand but still they will feel that there is something missing in their life, if their parents were separated.

If you feel that things will not work for the both of you anymore, it is still worth it to give your relationship a try. Do not make decisions without trying all the possibilities of reconciliation. Remember, there is always a marriage counseling service that you can turn to and the marriage counselors are always there waiting to help you.
