Niagara Falls has been a favorite honeymoon destination for numerous couples for a long time. It must be the water – ceaselessly plunging and thundering – that attracts the newlyweds. In fact, they are served with a three-in-one fare in this place: the Rainbow and Bridal Veil Falls (American) and Horseshoe Falls (Canadian). It hardly matters from which side you view the Niagara Falls on the honeymoon – it keeps mesmerizing you. If they wish, a couple can even arrange a destination wedding there before honeymooning in the same place.
In the unlikely event of one getting bored on a Niagara Falls honeymoon while gazing at the Falls, there are a lot of other attractions as well. A couple can spend some quality time joining a 30-minute boat cruise called the Maid of the Mist. It is one of the greatest tourist attractions here with the boats ferrying raincoat-clad riders from both the American side and the Canadian side. Among other attractions are the IMAX film Miracles, Myths, and Magic, that relate to the rushing waters. If the hordes of tourists (not all of them honeymooners) start getting on your nerves, you can combine a honeymoon in Niagara Falls with a stay nearby. Just 20 miles to the north is the wonderful hamlet of Niagara-on-the-Lake. You can enjoy its famous Shaw Festival, the only known theater specializing in plays written by George Bernard Shaw. If you’re traveling by car, you can also make a quick trip to Toronto, one of Canada’s main cities. Also awaiting your honeymoon trip are the lovely wineries of western New York. If you are inclined, Niagara will also offer you exciting night time activities including gambling at Casino Niagara. It has a reputation for favoring honeymooners.
To make your Niagara Falls honeymoon as romantic as possible, it is best to stay on either side of the Falls, always insist on a room with a view. Those on the Canadian side are perhaps more suitable, as these buildings face the Falls head-on. Canada’s Skyline Brock offers an excellent view of the Falls, giving you a nice view of both the American Falls and the Horseshoe Falls. Skyline Brock, established in 1929, has another claim to fame. It was here that Marilyn Monroe and the cast of the film Niagara stayed during shooting. It is nice just to have a meal at the hotel’s 10th-floor restaurant which offers the same wonderful view of the Falls, more so during night when the water is illuminated with colored spotlights. Other good hotels on the Canadian side include the Skyline Foxhead, and the Renaissance Fallsview Hotel overlooking Horseshoe Falls.
