officiate
Name: Valerie
Question:
I don't go to church very often, maybe once every other month. I also take my son to this church every Tuesday for a youth group. Is it okay to ask the minister to marry my fiance and I? We don't plan on getting married in the church, we have a reception hall rented and plan to do everything there due to travel for elderly family members who cannot get into and out of vehicles very easily. What is the proper etiquette in asking someone do do this honor for us? Thank you so much!
I am pretty sure that most ministers will do the service at any location as your wedding doesn't need to happen in a church. Alot of people that regularly attend church like to have outdoor weddings, or weddings in other buildings, and are usually married by their Priest or Minister. Usually you would make an appointment with the minister and let him know it would be an honer to have him officiate your wedding...and he will see if he is able to do it. It shouldn't be a problem as long as it isn't during mass you should be fine!
