Hi Bo, as long as there have been great events planned there has been wedding planners, the only difference is that they used to be called just event planners(people who planned any formal event but did not specifically plan weddings.) It was only until about the late 80's that wedding planning truly came out in form. Having a specailized planner meant you were elite or above others. Now alot of people having wedding planners or even coordinators.
