Question:

Hello,

I am planning a Spring wedding and reception for May 2008 in a hotel ballroom... I would like my colors to be teal or deep purple. The only problem is I have been told that you have to plan your colors to tie into the carpet. The carpet is very neutral (black, dark green, deep red and gold).. Would teal or deep purple clash?? Also, the walls are white.....

Well thankfully the walls are white=)....I am thinking howeverthe teal and purple have two ways to go. If it is a darker setting and you can get away with the up higher decorations being one or he other then you will be fine. If you wan tto work one ofthose colours in as your theme, why not pair if up with whites and off whites to toen down the colour keeping it alive but blending it inbetter. You can even look to the complimenting colours of teal and in the colour family itself. My big tip is to go to the local paint store and grab swatches. Not only does it give you your colours in a pinch, it allows you to see your neighbouring colours on the same stick. If you think about royalty, they often mixed reds, golds and purples! Dont forget lighting is key!

Sincerely, Brandi
