i am going away to get married and then having a reception when we get back. My dad was kind enough to get us a hall for free through his legion, but the room has low ceilings and not so nice walls. I want a romantic beach themed receptions on a budget. I want the room to look pretty not the basement of a legion building. any suggestion?


Hi Jamie, I am not too sure where you are located but in my city we have a company that rents plants...and I mean any kind of plants so what you might want to look into is getting some large leafed tropical plants that would hide the walls as much as possible. Or maybe ask friends and family if they have any they might want to loan out for a night or wo. What about sheer material to drape on the walls in various colors that are close to your theme colors, or sorongs, those ones you can pick up for $5, they are always very summery looking. Beach umbrellas can also be used, take the long handle out of them and mount them oh the walls flat, so that the large round part is covering a huge portion of your walls. Try to find some patio lanterns if you can, Ikea sells great modern paper patio lanterns that would look great on the ceiling and light up the room alot, as you don't want to have it too bright in there. Have a great time with it, you'd be amazed all that you can find at dollar stores that will come in handy as well!
