Weddings are great affairs nowadays and require a lot of time and effort in coordinating and planning. Even if you want to have a small affair with close family and friends, you would still need to pay attention to the wedding essentials that are involved into making a wedding day run smoothly.
1. Make a list – remember, in the old days your parents used to have a to do list done every morning so they do not miss out on any chore inside or outside the house. We took this ‘to do’ list into our office and there too, you have the lists which would keep you on the right track. Why should the wedding preparation – a day so important – be any different?
2. Plan, plan, plan – there is nothing better than good planning, another wedding essential. Every detail, every moment of that day should be planned well. You should have stand-by alternatives for all the important/ critical inputs and you should have all the arrangements booked at least one or two months in advance. If you have a wedding planner ensure that you both for through the wedding essentials carefully and thoroughly so you do have any surprises on the D-day. Also check that what they think are essential wedding supplies or items match with what you think they are.
3. Delegate – do not keep everything to yourself. There is just so much that a human can do. You want that all the essential wedding details be taken care of, ensure that you delegate the responsibilities to people who could carry them out well. Be on top of it at all times, but have others help run the show. The more you delegate, the better things would turn out because this delegation of wedding essentials can relieve your stress to a very large extent.
4. Budget – for any plan to work out smoothly, it would need a budget. Ensure that you make a realistic budget for each and every aspect of the wedding. Have a 10-15% added to your budget as contingency expenses so you would not panic if any expense crosses the budget it was assigned. However, you have to keep track of the expenses at the wedding, or you would find yourself paying an astronomical bill in the end.
5. Time – give yourself sufficient time to work out each wedding essential and take care of them. It is very important that you have a realistic time plan as well. Work out everything in advance and have nothing left for the ‘last minute’ chance.
With a little care, you would be able to ensure that the wedding essentials are indeed well taken care of and you have a wonderful wedding.
