Remember when you were a child, and time seemed to “stand still”. There were so many magical traditions and customs that we loved, like “leaving cookies and milk” out as an ‘invitation’ for Santa Claus to visit, in anticipation of gifts. As we grow, we carry these traditions as a keepsake of our past, a representation of family and our life, and this helps us bond with those who are closest to us. Wedding traditions are no different. Often before marriage, the bride and groom will continue with this theme by embracing wedding traditions and past customs of the partner, and carrying on with those long after the wedding ceremony and honeymoon are complete.
Our list of wedding traditions is a general guide to the unique and delightful ways other cultures express themselves in matrimony. Together with intimate knowledge of your roots and ancestry, you can plan to celebrate a great wedding and lasting union.
